*All Thursday sessions are composed of a lecture from 4 - 5:30 pm and a Yoga class from 6 - 7:15pm
You must attend all Thursday sessions to complete YA certification
The lectures will be recorded and sent to you if you can't attend in-person.
However, the practice will not be offered online.

Throughout our time together, we'll cover the following pieces to build your practice, we'll have discussions & conversations to refine our definitions of Yoga & how we share it honoring its roots.
Yoga Philosophy & Humanities
Delve into the philosophical roots of yoga, exploring the ancient texts
The Yoga Sutras and The Bhagavad Gita. Understand the ethical principles (yamas and niyamas) that form the moral and ethical backbone of yogic living.
We'll cover the History of Yoga, Yoga Ethics, & receive Vedic teachings from a special guest
Anatomy and Physiology
Gain insights into the mechanics of the human body, understanding how yoga postures affect different muscles, joints, and systems. Learn how to adapt practices to individual needs, fostering a safe and inclusive teaching environment.
The Subtle Body
Using the Chakra system as our map, you'll gain more understanding about the
energetic body covering the Prana Vayus, the Koshas & the Five Elements.
We'll receive an introduction to Ayurveda & doshas from a special guest.
Asana Practice
Deepen your own asana practice while learning to guide others through safe and effective sequences. Develop a keen eye for alignment, adjustments, and modifications to cater to diverse body types and abilities. You'll learn the foundation of the asanas and
the Sanskrit names of each posture.
Pranayama, Mantra & Meditation
Explore the power of breath through pranayama techniques, discovering how conscious breathing can enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Cultivate a regular meditation practice to quiet the mind and tap into inner stillness.
Learn a variety of mantras to support your practice.
Teaching Methodology
Unlock the art of teaching with labs on class sequencing, effective communication, & creating a nurturing environment. Develop the confidence to lead a yoga class, adapting to the energy of the room and connecting with your students.
Practicum
Put theory into practice through teaching opportunities. Receive constructive feedback from experienced instructors and peers, refining your teaching skills and gaining valuable
insights for growth.

Learn the basics about starting or continuing your journey as a Yoga instructor including

Lorena Quintero
Lead Intructor

Lorena ERYT 500, CYA500 has been a student of Yoga since 2009 & has been sharing classes, workshops & retreats in Mexico & Canada since 2013. She's co-led the 300hr Shamanic Yoga TT & is the founder of CASA COPAL
Lorena's love for the practice of Yoga comes from having found inspiring teachers from the beginning of her journey; she's studied with Shiva Rea, Jivasu Pradeep Kumar, Swami Atma, Praveen Nair, Dr. Kavitha Chinnaiyan, Janet Stone, Dr. Christine Selda, Rochelle Quarry, Nitai Ram & Govind Das to name a few. She honors all her teachers & is grateful to them for guiding the way.
Lorena is a Bhakta, a seeker. Her devotion & reverence to the practice comes from studying the ancient texts, visiting sacred sites in India, finding sanctuary in her Sadhana & nature & honoring her own Mexican roots. It all shows up in the way she teaches. She creates containers for people to experience their bodies authentically, witness their minds without judgement, listen to their hearts & move with soulful intention to the rhythms of their breath to remember their true nature & connection to the divine.
Lorena is a passionate Yogin eager & humbled to continue to learn with you as we embark on this journey together.
Erin Moon
Anatomy & Physiology
Erin Moon (she/Her) ERYT 500, C800-IAYT- has been teaching anatomy to Yoga instructors since 2009 in multiple programs around the world. She has been teaching yoga since 2005 starting with Vinyasa and adding Yin, Restorative, Hatha and a therapeutic approach over the years. Regarding Anatomy, Erin has studied/continues to study with YT's, PT’s, OT’s, Chiropractors, Researchers and Neurologists as well pursuing her hunger for knowledge through deep self study.
She also holds a 200hr certification in Applied Positive Psychology from The Flourishing Center, Reiki 2 and Thai Massage Level 1. Working with the body, mind and spirit connection has truly been a lifelong fascination.
Erin’s love of teaching anatomy comes from a deep passion for the continually unfolding world of science and research married with the deep teachings, 1000s of years of practice, embodiment, expansion of consciousness and connection of Yoga.

Nitai Rama Dasa
Bhakti Yoga - Bhagavad Gita Satsang
Nitai’s journey into the world of Bhakti began in 1997 when he discovered kirtan for the first time. This discovery inspired him to fully immerse in Bhakti ashram and temple life, which he continues to this day. Nitai has deeply studied Bhakti texts such the Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Chaitanya Charitamrita, and other core teachings to the Gaudiya Bhakti tradition.
Nitai was formerly initiated into the Gaudiya tradition on February 6, 2001, in Mayapur, West Bengal, India. He has since spent his time in
Bhakti communities across Canada, the U.S.A., and India.
Nitai is currently a director for Kirtan Vancouver, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating immersive Kirtan experiences for people throughout the lower mainland.
Nitai's intention for this YTT: "The Bhagavad Gita can be read through many lenses, but the Bhakti lens of the heart is perhaps the most joyous and transformative."
Preeti Syal
Ayurveda
Preeti Syal is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N.) from Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, Vancouver and a Master of Science in Foods and Nutrition from Delhi University,
India. She is also a certified Ayurvedic lifestyle consultant.
She has a passion for nutrition, a natural ability and a strong desire to share the knowledge with others.
Preeti is from New Delhi, the fast-paced metropolitan capital of India, but has carried over her ancestral Ayurvedic philosophy of diet and lifestyle over to Vancouver. Her passion for food has evolved to encompass a philosophy that focuses on whole and natural foods intended to nourish and promote health and wellbeing. Preeti has been part of the teaching faculty at CSNN since 2010 where she has taught various Holistic Nutrition & Ayurveda courses and she is the author and curator of over 22 self-paced online courses on these topics.
"My intention in bringing Ayurveda to YTT group is to deepen a yoga instructor's knowledge of holistic health and wellness, enabling them to offer more personalized guidance to their students on their yoga journey.
Ayurveda and Yoga are seen as sister sciences, both originating from ancient India and sharing a common philosophical foundation.

Dr. Manoj Chalam
Murtis & Vedanta
Manoj (people call him a spiritual standup comedian) uses an uniquely entertaining, interactive story telling style using Hindu/Buddhist deities in his workshops to illuminate Bhakti practices as well as deep non dual philosophy. He teaches at festivals, yoga events, his ashram and whoever wants to listen.
Manoj uses these deity archetypes to help people in their hero’s journey as elucidated by Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung.
An Indian-born scientist with a PhD in Chemical engineering from Cornell University, Manoj helps individuals find their archetypes in Hindu/Buddhist Yogic deities and teaches the 5 practices to work with their archetype as a spiritual practice. He has also compiled a book on the symbolisms of
these deity archetypes.
Manoj is in the business of story telling to inspire people. He has many you tube videos with deity statues as a compelling media to tell stories. Manoj was interviewed by the Ram Dass foundation for their podcast on "The Deities".
Manoj teaches workshops at a physical ashram in his home in San Diego called Sakhya Bhava Ashram (where the divine is your friend). Manoj’s workshops are usually 70% lecture/group exercises, 15% archetypical deity yoga meditations, 10% Mantra chantings and 5% light spiritual stretches.

Diego Montoya
Vinyasa
Diego is a CYA500 instructor with a passion for sharing ancient teachings in a way that feels accesible to all.
The art of embodied movement through breath is ever present in a variety of ways in Diego's classes. Expect a wide range of mental, physical and spiritual engagement in your practice. From Bahkti Marga (Devotional Yoga), to Vinyasa Yoga (Yoga of Intention),
Diego carries an active and playful practice challenging you on your mat; whilst engaging with a meditative rhythm to engage deeper states of consciousness. Diego incorporates multicultural archetypes including Non Dualistic Tantrica Yoga, Andean medicine practices of Peru, and Toltec medicine traditions from Mexico.
Tiaga Prem
Asana Labs - Hand Balancing + Backbends
Tiaga Prem has been practicing and teaching yoga for 25 years. He began his yoga journey with his first teacher Bhagavan Das. He continued to study the practice academically at University with a degree in Religious Studies specializing in Yoga Philosophy. At the advice of a professor and spiritual mentor, he left his pursuit of being a religious studies professor, to live the embodied life of a yogi.
After many years of study and practice in Ashtanga Yoga, Jivamukti Yoga, Vinyasa Krama Yoga via T.Krishnamacharya - he eventually met Sri Dharma Mittra and spent many years learning from him.
Tiaga Prem has a deep knowledge of classical yoga philosophy, has pilgrimaged to India, continues to practice Ashtanga Yoga, and is an initiated student of Sri Dharma Mittra.
He has been on the senior teaching staff for teacher trainings at Dharma Yoga Center in New York City, and has taught internationally for many years.
He is the founder of the Tattvas Yoga Studies Program. And was a co-founder of the Dharma Temple in Vancouver.
